Giving Back. Paying Forward
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr stated, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”
In 2011, the South Florida Chapter was created, with a profound sense of purpose, to “give back and pay forward” to our great and beloved alma mater. We exist to communicate, collaborate and coordinate efforts that will have a positive impact on the lives of the young girls attending St Hilda’s. We promise to provide meaningful opportunities – tools, funds, mentors, for the girls to succeed. You may ask, why? As past students to whom much was given during our years at St Hilda’s, we are compelled and bounded through love and duty to help others. We deeply care about St Hilda’s – yesterday, today and tomorrow!
Our association believes in strength through numbers. So, through partnerships with alums from all eras across the globe, we plan to grow in numbers, give back to St Hilda’s and eventually others when the needs arise. As we move forward and build strong relationships with the faculty, student body and parent teachers association we are confident that we will add value to St Hilda’s, our city on the hill, in Brown’s Town, St Ann, Jamaica.
“It is good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters in the end” – Ursula K Le Guin. Please join us on our journey as we “give back and pay forward.” Res Severa Verum Gaudium – A Hard Thing is True Joy!
